Design 1970 marble vase by Carlo Moretti. The vase constitutes one element of the collections created by Murano-based designer Carlo Moretti. Belonging to the line called "Marble," this design features a unique decorative form that aims to replicate the veining of marble. The striations lend an undulating, sinuous rhythm to the entire item, but are distinguished by the use of bright, vivid colors that further amplify the decorative motif.

Insider designer:

The Carlo Moretti company was founded by Carlo and Giovanni Moretti on the island of Murano in 1958, emerging as a leader in the design and production of contemporary glass objects. Their pieces are displayed in twenty-three museums around the world. Carlo Moretti, born on the island of Murano in 1934, was an avid reader and lover of art, travel, and classical music. His dedication to designing and creating the company's pieces is evident in the five decades of glassmaking that made him famous. His innate creativity and refined taste, enriched by knowledge of art and a lifetime of travel, are clearly reflected in their products. Charles was also an outstanding entrepreneur, combining innovative production techniques with the craftsmanship of his master glassmakers. He was able to combine a thousand years of glassmaking tradition with fifty years of contemporary design, earning a prominent place in the long history of glass in Murano. Giovanni Moretti, Carlo's younger brother, born on the island in 1940, was responsible for administration, marketing and corporate image until Carlo's death. Giovanni was president of the Consorzio Venezia Vetro, promoting the Vetri Murano brand and founding the New Museum of Contemporary Glass in Murano. Although Carlo was the designer, Giovanni always worked alongside him, providing many of the ideas that his brother could then elaborate in the creation of the pieces. After Carlo's death, Giovanni took full control of the company, developing personal designs that respected the factory's original style while introducing new aspects to production. In June 2013, Giovanni sold the Carlo Moretti factory to an Italian fashion holding company and, a year later, unexpectedly passed away in 2014. The new management is committed to maintaining the distinctive style for which the company is famous, both in reproducing existing models and creating future pieces.
