Liisi Beckmann, born December 7, 1924, was a remarkably talented Finnish designer and artist whose main activity took place in Italy from the 1950s to the 1970s. Her outstanding work is now part of the prestigious permanent collections of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm and the Design Museum in Helsinki. His art has received wide international recognition, with works exhibited at major cultural events such as the Quadriennale in Rome, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan. A highlight of his career is the creation of the famous Karelia chair, an iconic design work in collaboration with Zanotta in 1966.

The Gabbianelli company was already active in the years before World War II, has its headquarters in Milan, at 11 Via San Pietro all'Orto. Its production was led by Rolando Hettner and consisted of a wide range of modern ceramic creations, including majolica, vases, favors, lamp bases, wall plates, decorative floor tiles, wall panels, and sacred-themed figurines.

During the 1950s and 1960s, the manufactory had the privilege of collaborating with the famous designer Giò Ponti, contributing to the elevation of Italian ceramic art.

During the 1970s and 1980s, another renowned designer, Sergio Asti, collaborated with the manufacture, bringing innovation and creativity to their production.
